You'll Never Walk Alone

Have you been feeling abandoned of late? Deserted? Alone?
Perhaps even a bit depressed? Outcast? Dejected and even ejected? Has darkness clouded your door?
Well, it's small wonder because The Rotary Club of Johannesburg New Dawn has just lost the last of its three founders. Talk about being orphaned! For those who've forgotten, or maybe have never met all or some of them, they are:
Don Lindsay  (top left). Don and his partner, Arthur Begley, emigrated to Brasil about three years ago. They were originally from Ireland.
Peter James Smith (bottom left). Peter left last year for work and travel reasons, and has joined the Rotary Club of Rosebank, where he'll be their next president.
Graham Donet (top right) is the clubs' latest loss, having decided, after an absence of nine months due to work pressure, that he'll not be able to return. He remains a friend of New Dawn, though and who knows, might come back one day. We wish Graham well in his new job.
It's never great to lose members, but to counter these and other recent losses (most notably that of Steve du Plessis to the e-club) there has been some interest from a number of people in joining the club. All will be revealed in good time!
Last week we had Oliver Quambusch from Hotel Hope Ministries as a speaker, the third time he"s been to the club. The previous time was in February last year when Bert and Marja Ettekoven were here with a donation of 6 000 Euros for Hotel Hope. The latest proposal will be brought before the club during Wednesday's meeting.
Important dates: 13 November is the Golf Day and 5th December the annual Christmas dinne. Be there!
Charitable thought for the week: I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve. - Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965)
