Assembly 16 August

Assembly, 16 August 2014

On the 16th we had our first assembly with quite a few topics on the table. 12 members attended with a couple of no-show, no apologies. Linda gave a very descriptive feedback on DISCON 2014 and Steve forgot his flash drive with photos at home. Steve did play the poop video for us which was full of it (we all do it, as per the video)

Mike followed up with the financial report and then Paul talked about Foundation. He did have his own 5C's abbreviation, which stands for; Choose, Commit, Challenge, Change and Contribute. Katinka gave a very short feedback on the admin and then we went into some serious discussions.

Firstly we looked at the way projects are selected and approved. Hugh Rix raised some serious and valid concerns which will be rectified for any future project. Then we discussed the possibility of a venue change. Currently we have no flexibility in the cost of our breakfast but the new venue can provide that to us. A few of the members did not like the idea to move, but if we want to inject new life into the club it may be necessary.

Other projects were discussed and also using a regular meeting as a committee meeting. The cycle Tour, the 5C's project, books for the school in GrĂ¼nau and training. The assembly was a heated debate at times but we are moving forward. A big thank you to all who did attend and we hope to see more members at the next assembly in November.

Thank you to Mike and Linda Vink for sponsoring the venue and snacks. You are the best!
