Please Sir, Can I Have Some More Pizza

It's a feast of photos this week as we look back onto the pizza evening at Parkview Golf Club on Thursday night. It was a happy festive occasion with some great Rotary fellowship, the glue that holds a club together. We're not just there because we want to do good in the world, but also because we enjoy each other's company.

At the same time New Dawn is building up a relationship with the Parkview club that should stand us in good stead going forward. We just have to get them to order more pizza ingredients.

Nevertheless, most people - there were almost an equal number of members and guests, totalling almost 50 people - enjoyed the evening and it's definitely something we could do again.

Jankees Sligcher, Debbie Nagy, Robin Widdop and Judy Sligcher
Birthday girl Linda Vink (she turned 65 on Thursday) and Velani Buthelezi
Wendy Challis, Paul Ksango, Jacinta Opany-Agbara, Helene Bramwell and Bets Henning
That's me in conversation with Ivone Vosloo, chief party organiser Karlien Kruger and Julian Nagy
                          Carl Chemaly with Joan Sainsbury
                          Paul Channon with Jaquie Chemaly
Debbie Nagy with Viv Channon and others
President Ian Widdop also used the occasion to hand out RLI certificates to members who attended the Rotary Leadership Institute courses late last year and at the same time Joan Sainsbury has announced that there will be another session over two days on Saturday and Sunday 7th and 8th May at Twickenham Guest House.

This is a great way to get to know Rotary more intimately and the course will only cost participants R50 per day, so get your name on the list.

                                       Sainsbury and Mbali Zulu
                        Paul Kasango with Zena Kimaro
Peter Primich, Tshepo Ramutungu, Mbali Zulu and Helene Bramwell
                        Cuthbert Gumbochuma with Wendy Challis
It was a case of Please Sir, can I have some more (pizza) as the kitchen at Parkview ran out of topping ingredients a bit too soon, mainly because of the much better than expected turnout. Next time we'll be sure to not make the same mistake.

This week: It's a business meeting this week under the auspices of Gavin Atkins, the interim president for April. Gavin will also be talking about the Google Workspace and how, in practical terms, we're going to get members accustomed to using it.

A Thought for the Week: Never love anyone who treats you like you're ordinary. - Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900)
