Inductions, Paul Harris Fellows, VIP's, Actors and Lions

On the 5th of July our new president Steve du Plessis was inducted to the hot seat of the club. The venue was the Crown Plaza Hotel (old Rosebank Hotel) Dignitaries at the event were: DG Annie Steijn and her husband Hennie, IPDG Anneas Balt (without Val), DGE David Grand had to cancel on account of flu (he is sticking to his story), PDG Shirley Downie, PDG Francis Callard and Janet, PDGA Sylvia Knoop, DGR Steve Margo, AG Ferdie Heyneke and Filippa. We were also graced with the presence of two highly decorated Lions, both past presidents of their club; Wessel and Tharina Dippenaar. Then last but not least, Louis van Niekerk, actor and friend of Pres Steve who has seen it all, from the stage to the big screen and Television. The man with the voice just as big as he is.

We were also blessed to have a few of this years cycle tour riders there: our esteemed captain Deon Smit, Gerrit Visser, Thys Erasmus and Barry Geldenhuis. They all brought their wives for a change and they do clean-up nicely!! The rest of the crowd were our crazy bunch of club members, friends and family. 

A big thank you to all who attended and for those who missed it..... you will have to wait until next year for another function like this! To the MC Ian Widdop... you are good when you are good!! The venue made for great fellowship and we had a lot of fun, tasty food and great wine. 

Congratulations to our new Paul Harris Fellows Hugh Rix, Mike Vink, IPP Joan Donet and PP Graham Donet. 

Just remember, this year we are bringing two themes together in the club to build continuity. Re-think Rotary and Light-up Rotary.... if we rethink the way we can light up Rotary, we will look like a second sun to the man in the moon!! Let us lead the way to a bright year in Rotary... NEW DAWN!!!!
